Paper Cuts

Posted by Gareth Edwards, 26 January 2010 08:20:13

I've just been searching the internet for some interesting facts and figures on the number of trees cut down for paper production each year, but there appears to be such a wide range of 'guestimates on different websites that I've given up!

One thing that I do know for sure is that over the past 12 months, at Atlantic we've managed to reduce paper consumption by 12% compared to last year's figures.  This accounts for a reduction of several million sheets of A4 and A3 paper in our offices.

For the past couple of years, all of our paper has been manufactured by Evolve and supplied to us by Office Depot who are an FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified company.  Office Depot is also a member of the WWF UK Forest and Trade Network which assists in eradicating illegal logging through detailed supply chain reporting.  All of the paper we use is made from recycled materials and the wrapping which the paper comes in is also recyclable.

We're always looking for innovative ways to reduce paper use within our company and are gradually working towards the ideal of the paperless office.  I think it may be some time before we achieve that aim, but it's good to know that we're heading in the right direction.
