Thanks to “S Roberts” for taking the time to respond to my forum post on electric cars. He/she said that in the Top Gear programme I referred to, they also pointed out that electric cars are already out of date.

As I mentioned in my opening post on the forum, we believe that Atlantic is heading in the right direction to achieve its goal of being the leading global utility in the field of sustainability by 2016.

However, there are some areas where we are looking to make further improvements. One of these areas is in relation to how we communicate the message of sustainability to our 777,000-plus Atlantic customers and how we can help them to become more 'green'.

The media take great delight in highlighting when 'health and safety' appears to be spoiling people's fun, for example, by stopping actors at pantomimes throwing sweets into the audience in case someone gets hit by one. But, as is often the case, we seldom get to hear the whole story.

I received an interesting comment from Lyndon, who asked when Atlantic Electric and Gas would start using smart meters.

As far as the progress on the deployment of smart meters is concerned, Atlantic are involved in the largest trial of smart meters for domestic customers in the UK.
